U.S. Advances Freer Trade with Mercosur, Central America

U.S. Advances Freer Trade with Mercosur, Central America On September 24, the United States held separate meetings with Mercosur members and five Central American nations to advance free trade globally and in the Americas. USTR Zoellick hosted Mercosur members Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay for “Four-Plus- One” talks on global and regional trade liberalization, while Assistant USTR Vargo met in Managua with delegations from Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua - which have expressed interest in a regional free trade agreement with the United States.
