How We Help Eliminate Foreign Trade Barriers

If your company is facing a foreign government trade barrier, ITA specialists mobilize to take the following steps:

Step 1. Form a case team to analyze problem, determine if trade agreement can be used as leverage, agree on a strategy and define success. Step 2. Team implements strategy, engaging the foreign government to reduce or remove the specific barrier. Step 3. Team works with industry towards an optimal solution, escalating as appropriate.

Our teams have succeeded in resolving many cases on behalf of U.S. companies and opening foreign market. Non-successful cases may, if warranted, be referred to the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) and other U.S. government agencies for possible formal dispute settlement action (notably with the World Trade Organization).

Using the Information You Submit
If our case team is able to overcome the foreign government trade barrier your company faced, we will ask your firm’s permission to use the case’s success summary or a client testimonial for publicity purposes. Please be aware that information which ITA collects from e-mail, forms and through site registration may be viewed by various people within the ITA and other Federal agencies actively involved with international trade.
